- Versatility and freedom: With the FollowMe Tandem, children can ride independently on their own bikes or be safely towed when needed. This flexibility lets them explore their independence while ensuring they stay close when necessary.
- Safe and stress-free navigation: Navigate through city traffic confidently and without stress. In high-traffic areas, you can securely tow your child, and once you reach safer environments, they can ride independently again. If they get tired, simply reconnect them.
- Safety and learning experience: The FollowMe Tandem ensures a safe and stable ride while gradually introducing children to cycling and road traffic in a controlled manner.
- Quick and easy connection: Attach or detach your child’s bike in seconds, without any tools or additional assembly parts. It’s designed for quick transitions to keep your journey smooth.
- Unrestricted luggage rack usage: Even when towing your child, the luggage rack remains fully usable, allowing you to transport a second child seat, groceries, or other essentials without any limitations. Additionally, if you have a front seat on your bike, you can transport up to three children at once, making it perfect for larger families or group activities.
- Compact and convenient storage: When not in use, the FollowMe Tandem can be folded and securely hung on the luggage rack or saddle using a snap hook. For trips without your child, the entire FollowMe Tandem can be removed quickly and easily.
- Superior stability and comfort: The unique two-point attachment at hub height offers exceptional stability, driving comfort, and safety. This design minimizes the impact of the additional load, unlike traditional seat tube-mounted systems.
- Grows with your child: The FollowMe Tandem is adjustable to fit children’s bikes with wheel diameters from 12” to 20” (30 to 50 cm). This adaptability makes it suitable for children approximately 3 to 9 years old, extending its usability longer than most child trailers, offering more value for money.
- Required tools: 8 mm, 13 mm and 19 mm wrenches are required for installation (do not use adjustable wrenches). The only special tool needed is a hacksaw, Dremel, angle grinder or good tin shears to cut the steel strip to size for the frame clamp on the children’s bike. We ourselves use the Stanley tin shears. None of these tools available? You can also measure the steel strip and take it to a bike store to have it cut to size.
- Optional Tool: To provide additional security, Loctite Blue 242 can be used on the threads of the adapters. This prevents them from loosening due to vibration, but is not required.
- No tools required after installation: Once installed, no tools are needed to attach or detach the FollowMe Tandem again.
- Important: It is crucial to tighten the adapters securely but avoid overtightening. It’s also a good practice to regularly check that everything is properly tightened for your own safety.

- Quick and tool-free removal: The FollowMe Tandem can be removed or reattached from the adult bike in less than a minute without tools. This makes it convenient for solo trips or grocery shopping when you don’t need the FollowMe Tandem.
- Easy coupling and uncoupling: The child’s bike can be coupled and uncoupled from the FollowMe Tandem in just a few seconds, without needing any tools or loose parts. Switching between two children’s bikes is also done in seconds, making it perfect for traveling with two kids who want to take turns.
- Switching between different wheel sizes: If you want to use two children’s bikes with different wheel sizes, keep in mind that the FollowMe Tandem will need to be readjusted when switching bikes. This only requires an 8mm socket wrench, which you can take with you on the road if necessary. Are you using two bikes with the same wheel size? Then you can quickly change without any adjustment. It is important that the front wheel(tire) of the child’s bike is always against the FollowMe Tandem frame.
Unfortunately, as a national distributor, we do not have a retail store where you can come by without an appointment. If you have a specific question, we are of course happy to think along with you. In this case, please send an email or contact us via the Whatsapp widget, something is always possible by appointment!
- Regular inspection: You should regularly check that the various nuts and bolts of the FollowMe Tandem are still tight and, if needed, adjust them to the correct torque.
- Cleaning after use: If the FollowMe Tandem gets wet or has been used on gritted roads (salt), make sure to clean it thoroughly to prevent rust.
- Storage: Avoid leaving the FollowMe Tandem outside in the rain or in humid conditions to ensure its longevity.
- Starting Age: Children can start using the FollowMe Tandem as soon as they are tall enough to ride a 12″ children’s bike, typically around 3 years of age.
- Riding experience recommended: We recommend that children already have some experience with a form of bicycle. This ensures they can hold on securely and are not startled by sudden braking or quick turns. We suggest starting with a balance bike at an early age, as this helps children naturally develop balance, steering, and coordination. From there, transitioning to learning to cycle with the FollowMe Tandem is ideal. This approach is more effective than using training wheels, which can hinder the development of proper balance and steering skills.
- Perfect for building confidence: Thanks to its exceptional stability, the FollowMe Tandem is ideal for children who are not yet fully confident on a bike. It provides a safe way to introduce them to cycling in various environments, allowing you to start towing at a slightly younger age compared to other towing systems.
- Gradual independence: You can begin with full-time towing and gradually reduce it as your child becomes more confident and stronger as an independent rider.
- Age and weight range: The FollowMe Tandem is suitable for children approximately 3 to 9 years old, with a maximum combined weight of 45 kg for the trailing bike and rider. It is compatible with children’s bikes ranging from 12″ to 20″ wheels, ensuring long-term usability as your child grows.
- It is not possible to use the FollowMe Tandem if the child’s bike has training wheels. These should be removed or at least turned up. Side wheels keep the children’s bike from leaning into a corner. The adult bicycle still does this, which can create a dangerous situation.
- We do not recommend using training wheels when learning to ride a bicycle. Training wheels do not help children learn to balance, steer, start, stop or turn properly. Instead, they teach the wrong way to turn, as children shift their weight outward instead of inward. In addition, training wheels can pose safety risks if they get caught behind a curb or in a pothole, causing the bike to tip over. They can also cause the bicycle to roll backward, which can cause dangerous situations.
- Instead, we recommend starting with a balance bike at an early age before switching to a children’s bike with pedals. With a balance bike, children learn to balance, steer and coordinate naturally, which makes the transition to a regular bike smoother and more confident.
- Yes, you can transport the children’s bike without a passenger: The children’s bike can remain attached to the FollowMe Tandem, even without a rider.
- Quickly change bikes: You can park the FollowMe Tandem with the child’s bike still attached. A common example is at school. One parent brings the child by bicycle in the morning and another parent picks up the child later with another bicycle. This can be done in less than a minute without tools. The only requirement is that both towing bikes are equipped with FollowMe Tandem adapters, which are available separately.
- Detaching the bike: Alternatively, you can detach the child’s bike, fold the FollowMe Tandem, and take it home. When you pick up your child, you can easily reattach the bike to the FollowMe Tandem again.
The wheels of the children’s bike can be up to 20 inches, there are no exceptions to this. Sporadically, the children’s bike fender may get in the way. This can be solved by gently bending the metal suspension out of the way.
Almost all children’s bikes fit in the FollowMe Tandem. There are three limiting factors for children’s bikes that are incidental.
- The children’s bike must have a lower frame tube that runs convex downward. High/hollow frame tubes or frame tubes that run very close to the front wheel are unsuitable because there is nowhere to mount the frame clamp.
- The front fork must be a maximum of 155mm wide.
- The suspension of the front wheel, must be at the lowest point of the front fork. If the front fork extends lower past the suspension, the FollowMe Tandem cannot be mounted.

Schuchmann, an external partner, offers a special version of the FollowMe Tandem, designed for use with Momo tricycles. If interested, you can contact them directly at the Schuchmann website
- For bikes with a luggage rack: The FollowMe Tandem can be folded in and hung on the back of the luggage rack using the provided strap.
- If the rear light protrudes: If a rear light is attached to the luggage rack and extends outward, it can be difficult to attach the coupling using the standard strap, since the light may be damaged. In this case, the suspension bracket is recommended.
- For bikes without a luggage rack: If the towing bike doesn’t have a luggage rack, the strap can be attached to the saddle.
- Compatibility of coupling adapters: In most cases, the trailer adapter and the FollowMe Tandem adapter can be installed simultaneously without any issues. However, it does require that the trailer coupling is attached below the wheel axle so that the FollowMe Tandem coupling can extend horizontally to the rear.
- Quick Release Considerations: If the trailer coupling is clamped under the quick release, first check that the standard FollowMe Tandem quick release adapter is wide enough to accommodate both.
- Wider axle requirement: If the standard quick release does not extend enough out of the frame, you will need the XL adapter to securely fit both couplings. The difference in length is shown here. The difference in length is shown here.

- Maximum Wheel Size: The FollowMe Tandem is compatible with wheels up to 29 x 2.30 inches.
- Possible adjustment for larger tires: If you want to use tires larger than 2.30 inches, you can remove the mudguard from the FollowMe Tandem to accommodate the larger size.
- Radius check: The radius of the rear wheel on the towing bike must not exceed 38 cm to ensure proper fit (76 cm diameter).
Almost all electric bikes are compatible with the FollowMe Tandem, although an adapter is required. Many electric bikes today have a fixed thru-axle. For an overview of these adapters, see this PDF document. When in doubt, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us and send a picture of the rear wheel of the bike, so we can check which adapter is needed!
Decathlon makes bikes with Rockrider XC/AM and RIVERSIDE RT derailleur pads. These bikes require a thru-axle adapter (often 1.5×172).
In addition, a special adapter from Decathlon is required, which can be ordered from Decathlon.
This applies to the bikes: Riverside Touring 520 / 900 / 920 Rockrider AM 100 S / AM 100 / XC 50 / XC 100 S / XC 100 / XC 500 / XC 900S / E-ST 900
No, the FollowMe Tandem is not suitable for fatbikes. This is because fatbikes typically have a smaller wheel size than the 26-inch minimum required for the FollowMe Tandem. As a result, the coupling cannot be attached correctly and the front wheel of the children’s bike will not suspend high enough.
- Different rear axle widths: Each bike brand and model have a different rear axle width. For this reason, the FollowMe Tandem comes from the factory with a narrow width.
- Adjusting the frame width: In the FollowMe Tandem frame, there are four flat pieces. Take the two frame pieces at the ends and carefully pull them apart. The FollowMe Tandem should always fit snugly onto the adapters of the adult bike and should not be loose.
- Ensure a secure fit: Bend the frame slightly to be just narrower than the width of the adapters. This ensures that the FollowMe clicks into place every time when coupling.
- If the frame is too wide: If the FollowMe Tandem is too wide for your bike, you can gently bend the frame inward in the same way to ensure a snug fit, allowing it to click properly onto the adapters.
Checking your VAT number is done through a European Commission system.
This website checks VAT numbers’ validity in real time based on data from the national databases of EU member states. In other words, when you enter a number, it is immediately checked in the database of the relevant country. Unfortunately, because this system is used in all EU countries, it regularly gets overloaded.
This overload occurs mainly at peak times. Many business customers place their orders at the end of the business day, so delays are most likely to occur on business days between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Unable to check your VAT number? Then try again first. If the problem persists, we recommend placing your order at a quieter time: for example, during the weekend, early in the morning or later in the evening. At those times, the chance of overloading is a lot smaller.
